The Pro Bono Network for Human Rights Wins 3rd Prize at the Civil Society Gala!

07.06.2016 / 12:19 / Access to Justice

Monday, June 6th 2016, after a tight competition between many initiatives of nongovernmental organisations from all over the country, The Pro Bono Network for Human Rights was awarded 3rd prize at the Civil Society Gala, at the section Protection of Individual/ Collective Human Rights. The prize is a public recognition of IMG-20160607-WA0004The Pro Bono Network’s contribution to solving the legal issues of numerous vulnerable people in Romania. In 2015, the Network’s first year of activity, with the help of our Pro Bono Lawyers, over 100 individuals received free legal assistance in diverse human rights areas: infringements of the rights of people with disabilities, violence against women, forced evictions of Roma, parental rights, access to health, hate speech, disctrimination, etc.

The prize is not only a reason of joy for ACTEDO’s team, but also a positive impulse to continue The Pro Bono Network’s activities at the same standards, and with the same enthusiasm and dedication as always. However, this public recognition would not have been possible without the 47 Pro Bono Lawyers from all over the country and without our parteners, The Center for Legal Resources (CLR), The Global Network for Public Interest Law (PILnet), Chiriţă and Associates Attorneys at Law, Costaş, Negru and Associates Attorneys at Law, David & Corcheș Attorneys at Law, whom we thank for their involvement and support! In addition, we are grateful to Farmec Company for their support in continuing The Pro Bono Network for Human Rights in 2016. Together, we plan to reach as many people as possible in the future.
