Case #124: Minor physically and emotionally abused by his father seeks residence with maternal grandparents

Vulnerable group:  minors

Human rights area: children’s rights, domestic violence, emotional abuse

County: Satu-Mare

A new case was taken over through The Pro Bono Network for Human Rights. It is about a 10-year-old minor, who was taken last year by DGASPC Satu-Mare, from the custody of his father who physically and emotionally abused him for 3 years. A restraining order was issued against the father for a period of one month, during which time the minor remained with the foster family, choosing not to keep in touch with the father, as he was afraid of him. The minor remain in foster care until the case is resolved.  The process is constantly delayed, without taking into account the situation the child is going through, during which time the minor's condition worsens and he shows signs of severe depression and suicidal thoughts. The maternal grandparents drew up all the necessary documents and filed a lawsuit in court to take the child into their care, but for six months no decision was made on the child's place of residence. The minor's sister sought legal advice in the case.

The case was taken over by lawyer Dana Maria Ona (Maramureș Bar) to whom we thank and wish a lot of success in solving the case!
