Workshop: Good Practices for the Protection and Support of Survivors of Domestic Violence

Thursday, October 28th, 2021, ACTEDO, together with the Center for Legal Resources (CLR), with the support of The Eastern European Institute of Reproductive Health (IEESR) and the Association for Liberty and Equality of Gender (A.L.E.G.), organized a workshop dedicated to support service providers for people in vulnerable situations, entitled: Good Practices for the Protection and Support of Survivors of Domestic Violence.

The workshop was built around the protection and support needs of survivors of domestic violence and good practices for their empowerment. The special guests, Elena Micheu (Executive Director, Eastern European Institute of Reproductive Health), Cătălina Covaliu (psychologist, A.L.E.G.) and Eliza Ciocîrlan (Communication Officer, ACTEDO) spoke about:

📌 statistics on domestic violence and elements of legislation

📌 information on the protection order and the provisional protection order

📌 support services at national level

📌 models of good practice for empowering survivors of domestic violence

📌 integrated model of support for victims: public-private partnership DGASPC-NGO in Mureș County

📌 support groups for survivors of domestic violence and the #SiEuReusesc campaign

One of the objectives of the meeting was to exchange information and good practices between support service providers - state-run social services, NGOs, and informal support groups - at the national level, in order to facilitate inter-institutional communication and improve the referral of beneficiaries to complementary services. At the same time, the speakers presented the results of the largest pro bono clearinghouse in Romania - The Pro Bono Network for Human Rights - in its 6 years of existence. Through The Pro Bono Network, people in vulnerable situations can benefit from free legal assistance and representation in court (pro bono).
